Telstra joins forces with ASCA to promote smart communities

The Australian Smart Communities Association (ASCA) is pleased to welcome Telstra as the naming rights sponsor for the Australian Smart Communities Conference in Adelaide from 29-31 May.

“This partnership demonstrates Telstra’s investment and commitment by joining forces with ASCA to reinforce the importance of delivering high quality smart community outcomes in Australia,” ASCA President Michael Whereat said.

“Telstra’s sponsorship of this year’s conference continues their active involvement in developing smart communities by collaborating with governments, business and industry, as well as R&D innovators to help Australians build vibrant, innovative and sustainable communities,” he said.

“Telstra is excited to be naming rights sponsor of the Australian Smart Communities Conference,” Telstra Executive Director, Premier Business, Andrew Wildblood said.

“It’s an event that will showcase the latest in connected technologies and great examples of where organisations are coming together to find new ways to be more productive, deliver better services and improve quality of life for Australian communities.

“We’re really looking forward to exploring the many ways our world class mobile and fixed networks can make a difference,” Mr Wildblood said.

Hosted by ASCA, the conference theme of Creating smarter cities and communities will highlight case studies which are relevant and applicable to communities across Australia, such as smart parking, energy and lighting management, environmental sensors and open data.

Mr Whereat said the conference featured an exciting program of international and national keynote speakers, panel discussions with leading smart community professionals and a trade exhibition of leading technology businesses and organisations.

Telstra’s sponsorship of the conference continues the company’s active involvement with ASCA, following its recent membership of ASCA’s Business and Industry Board.
