Standards Australia have recently released their Position Paper on, ‘Smart Cities: An Essential Enabler for Australia’s Future’, and ASCA’s network participated in the Advisory Group to support and advise in its creation.

The Paper explores the role of smart technologies and data in addressing the challenges of cities across Australia.  It identifies opportunities and challenges across different core areas, including:

• Sustainable Development (SDGs)

• Sustainable Cities & Communities

• Circular Economy

• Security & Resilience

• Regional Cities

• Ageing Societies

It pleasing to see the involvement of some former ASCA board members and alumni on the advisory group for this position paper including Rory Brown, James Sankar and Matthew Shultz.
