SmartLearning Series: Preventing Failure in ICT and Smart Cities

Robert’s seminar will centre around the question of ‘what critical infrastructure do I need to support my smart city project?’

Robert will discuss:

  • The current typical smart city applications as well as forecasting future applications

  • What happens when things go wrong in ICT and Smart Cities, whilst delving into some case study examples

  • How data centres have previously been designed and their cost, comparing this with the need for new projects

  • What is meant by cloud storage and co-location and when to use these technologies, as well as an explanation of hybrid IT

  • Budgeting and savings with ICT in Smart Cities and the need for resilience

Presented by Robert Linsdell - Managing Director Australia & New Zealand - Vertiv

Robert assumes the leadership responsibility for the overall Vertiv business in Australia and New Zealand.  Recently authored articles and blogs by Robert explore the growth & speed to connect users with applications and how the demand from things like big data, IoT, mobile, social & AI is driving data centre requirements from organizations core data centre right up to the edge of network.

Based out of Sydney, Robert has worked at Vertiv (formerly Emerson Network Power) for the past 6 years. Prior to his appointment Robert held senior positions working in USA, Europe and Asia.  Robert has over two decades of experience across technology driven industries, including telecoms, electronic materials and powder coating. In addition Robert has previously held board positions with CEPE, Intellect UK and EIPC.

Robert is a graduate of the University of Brighton and holds a Management Diploma.
