Study Tour - Geelong

Yesterday, Thursday 15 June, ASCA and the City of Greater Geelong’s Smart City Team came together for an in-person study tour which created a wonderful learning and networking experience for all that attended.

It was great to see the proactive approach the City of Greater Geelong is taking to utilise technology and data to help make their city future ready for their community. The study tour showcased a range of technologies which included smart nodes, EV chargers, digital history, video analytics as well as a special presentation by Deakin University.

The afternoon study tour was followed by a fascinating workshop to discuss the appropriate settings for data capture using video technology, as well as a robust discussion around the ethical use of AI in local government.

The day concluded with some relaxed networking which provided a chance to reflect on the day and share stories and ideas with like-minded attendees.

A huge thanks to the Geelong team for hosting us! Adam Mowlam, Claire Mewing, Dean Mortimer and Rizwan Haque
