Pre-Summit workshop - Smart Tech for Planners
We are beyond the hype of smart cities. Yet, the impact of technology on the public realm has arguably never been greater. Urban planners often describe a knowledge gap on the complexity of place-based technology, while those understanding the powerful capabilities of technology, digital and data solutions have little experience with the key concepts of urbanism or place experience. This workshop will seek to bridge that gap.
Urbis’ experts in smart city strategy and planning will guide attendees through an interactive workshop. Participants will apply some tools of design thinking to gain a greater appreciation of the complex issues surrounding technology infrastructure and smart solutions, and the interdisciplinary collaboration required to effectively harness them for the good of the community.
The workshop will be facilitated by Urbis experts Dr Nathaniel Bavinton and Richard Barry and hosted by NBN Co at their Melbourne office.
Date: Wednesday 27th November
Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: NBN Co 727 Collins St, Docklands, Melbourne VIC, 3008
Cost: $75 for Summit guests $195 for Workshop Only
