Restoring Integrity to Regional Funding

This week, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts announced the delivery of two new regional programs in the 2022-23 Budget – the Growing Regions Program and the regional Precincts and Partnerships Program.

The Government has committed $1 billion over the next three years to support the programs and invest in much needed community infrastructure in way that is more transparent, fair and sustainable.

The two programs will provide new opportunities for regional local councils as well as support a nationally consistent mechanism for funding and coordinating larger-scale projects in regional cities and wider rural and regional Australia.

ASCA welcomes the announcement of these two programs and looks forward to seeing national collaboration in building smart communities across Australia.
